Atmar for enhanced NATO support to Afghan forces
KABUL (Pajhwok): National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar on Saturday asked NATO forces to provide sustainable assistance to Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), a statement from the National Security Council said.
NATO Senior Civilian representative Ismail Aramaz and Atmar discussed the security situation of Afghanistan and NATO military cooperation for capacity building of ANSF during a meeting on Saturday, a statement from the NSC said.
Afghan forces were sacrificing their lives for security and peace of the country and Afghan people had realised their sacrifices, Atmar said, adding recent achievements of Afghan forces proved they were capable to deal with terrorists and security treats in the country.
Atmar urged NATO’s enhanced and lasting cooperation with Afghan security forces, the statement said.
For his part, Aramaz said NATO believed in the ability of Afghan security forces who were capable to challenge threats posed by terrorists. He assured of the alliance lasting cooperation with Afghan forces.
