2 NDS officials wounded in Faryab explosion
MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Two intelligence officials were wounded on Sunday in an explosion in northern Faryab province, while another blast took place in front of the provincial council office in which nobody sustained injuries, officials said.
The first explosion took place in front of the provincial council, while the second blast was triggered by a magnetic bomb attached to the vehicle of National Directorate of Security (NDS).
The wounded men were intelligence officials who were transferred to the Afghan-Turk Hospital in Maimana, the provincial capital. Ihsanullah Wahidi, the emergency in charge of the hospital, confirmed that two wounded had been admitted for treatment.
The explosion in front of the provincial council took place Saturday night, but no one suffered injuries. Sayed Abdul Baqi Hashami, the provincial council head, said the mine was planted by the militants which aimed at spreading fear among the people.
Separately, police defused another remote controlled mine in the Maimana Park. Police Chief Col. Subhan Qul Ibrahimi said the mine would have inflicted heavy casualties if not defused.
