District police chief killed in bomb attack
MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The police chief for Dawlatabad district was killed in a bomb attack in northern Balkh province on Monday, an official said.
The blast took place at around 5pm in the district bazaar, killing Lt. Col. Abdul Rauf Akhgar, said deputy provincial police chief Abdul Razaq Qadari.
He said the district police chief, who took charge on Thursday, was passing through the area in his vehicle when the bomb placed beneath a culvert was detonated.
“The police commander was on his way home when the blast took place,” a resident of the area, said, adding the commander was killed and his two guards sustained injuries.
