Sar-i-Pul clash leaves 1 civilian dead, 2 policemen hurt
SAR-I-PUL CITY (Pajhwok): One civilian was killed and three others, including two policemen, wounded in a clash between security forces and the Taliban in Sar-i-Pul City, the capital of central Sar-i-Pul province, a lawmaker claimed on Monday.
Senator Mohammad Azim Quyash told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban stormed attacks on police check-posts in Asradi, Toghi and 3rd police districts areas on Sunday night.
He said as a result fire fight, a mortar shell struck in a house which left one person dead and another wounded. Two policemen in the 2nd police district were also wounded.
Provincial Council Chief Asadullah Khuram confirmed the incident, saying police responded to the Taliban attack and the insurgent escaped the area.
But Taliban claimed four security men were killed and six others wounded in a 30 minutes gun battle.
