3 Daesh fighters killed, 9 wounded in Nangarhar clash
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): More than a dozen Islamic State (IS), or Daesh, fighters have been killed and wounded in the Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province, authorities said on Tuesday.
The self-styled militant group suffered the casualties during a clash with the security personnel in Abdulkhel area last evening, the Afghan army’s 201st Selab Military Corps said.
A statement from the corps said three insurgents were killed and others wounded in the clash that erupted during operation in the district, lying close to the border with Pakistan’s Khyber tribal region.
Zabihullah, a resident of the district, told Pajhwok Afghan News confirmed the clash occurred in Abdulkhel late on Monday. However, he had no information regarding casualties.
Twenty-five border policemen and dozens of Daesh fighters have been killed during eight days of clashes in Nangarhar.
A day earlier, Border Police Commander Maj. Gen. Rahmatullah Raufi accused Pakistan of supporting Daesh and said strict measures had been adopted against the terrorist group.
