Oryakhel to be summoned over fake disabled, martyrs’ families
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Wolesi Jirga or lower house of parliament on Tuesday decided to summon the Minister of Labour, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled over fake individuals receiving salaries and other allowances from the ministry.
Abdul Baqi Baryal, who heads the Wolesi Jirga commission on martyrs and disabled, told the house that previously ghost employees had been unearthed in other departments, but now such people were found in the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled (MoLSMD).
He asked the authorities concerned to identify fake disabled and families of martyrs to prevent them from receiving stipends from the ministry.
He also asked lawmakers to summon minister Dr. Nasrin Oryakhel to explain the issue.
A lawmaker from southeastern Paktia province, Jumadin Gayanwal said fake policemen were receiving salaries in his province.
He said 200 police posts had been approved for Zarghon Shahr district while there were only 30 policemen posted in the district. Likewise in Orgun and Barmal districts, he said, instead of 250 and 200 policemen respectively, there were only nearly a dozen policemen in each of the districts.
Another legislator, Safiullah Hashmi, said” I have heard about ghost teachers and schools and now I am hearing about fake disabled and fake families of martyrs. I am concerned if am too fake.”
However, MoLSMD spokesman Ali Iftikhari said they had identified and cancelled more than 50,000 cards issued to people with fake disabilities and fake families of martyrs.
He said after their identification, 600 individuals using double cards had been arrested and introduced to the attorney office.
