President appoints 4 governors, ANDMA chief
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani has appointed governors for four northern provinces and the director general of the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) through separate decrees, his office said on Wednesday.
Mohammad Yasin Zia has been appointed as the new governor of Takhar, Zahiar Wihdat as Sar-i-Pul governor, Syed Anwar Sadat as Faryab governor, Abdul Satar Baris as Baghlan governor and Hajji Shahzada Mazlumyar as deputy governor of eastern Laghman province, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.
The president has appointed Wais Ahmad Barmak as ANDMA director general in a separate decree, the statement said.
The president made the gubernatorial appointments in response recommendations by the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG), the statement said, calling the new governors as highly qualified and experienced.
