KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday evaluated the country’s civil and security situations and talked to local commanders through a video conference.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said President Ghani was briefed about the situations Kunduz, Badakhshan, Baghlan, Takhar and Faryab provinces by local officials.

It said the 201st Selab Military Corps commander shared his report about the security situation in the region encompassing seven north and northeastern provinces.

Governors of Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman, Nuristan, Kapisa, Panjshir and Parwan provinces also shared their reports about security situation and threats in their respective areas, the statement added.

After hearing from them, President Ghani ordered relevant organs to address problems mentioned by the officials. Some other issues were referred to the National Security Council (NSC) for discussion, it said.

“The president ordered security and defence organs to provide a list of people martyred or wounded during the recent security incidents in the country,” the statement said.

Ghani praised Afghan security forces for their performance against militants and said that Afghan forces would be honoured for their sacrifices.

He also directed the ministries concerned to cooperate with war-displaced families and encourage foreign aid organizations to help them.
