Celebratory gunfire claims lives of 3 wedding guests
CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Three people, including a child, were killed and two women injured in celebratory gunfire at a wedding in the Bagram district of central Parwan province, an official said on Saturday.
The incident took place on Friday night when the groom’s father opened fire in the Sinzayee area of Bagram, Provincial Council Secretary Shamsul Haq Shaikhani told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the father of the groom was performing Attan (local dance) when the barrel of his Kalashnikov came down, killing the wedding guests.
A seven-your-old grandson of the man and two other relatives were killed while two women sustained injuries in the firing, he added.
Bagram district chief Abdul Shakoor Qudusi confirmed the incident, saying the injured were evacuated to a hospital in Kabul for treatment. The perpetrator was arrested by police, he said.
