Oct 10, 2015 - 15:39

SHARAN (Pajhwok): At least four civilians were killed and eight others injured in an explosion in the Zerok district of southeastern Paktika province on Saturday, a top provincial official said.

The blast took place before noon near the main district bazaar in the vicinity of the district headquarters, Governor Aminullah Shariq told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Youth and tribal elders were among the wounded, he said, blaming the enemies of Afghanistaninfo-icon -- a euphemism for Talibaninfo-icon -- for the inhuman act.

He added terrorists had lost the ability to face Afghan security forces, so they were argeting innocent. The governor said an estigation into the incident had been launched.

The explosion took place when some tribal elders were getting into their cars, after coming to the district headquarters for the resolution of a case, Juma Khan, commander of the Afghan Local Police (ALP), said.

He said the detonation took place near the district building, injuring two gauds as well.

An official of the Orgun Hospital, who spoke on condition of anonymity said that four bodies and nine wounded people had been brought to the hospital. Some of the injured are in critical conditions.
