6 policemen, 2 insurgents killed in Nimroz clash
ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Six policemen and two militants have been killed during a clash in the Khashrod district of southwestern Nimroz province, an official said on Monday.
A local security official, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok Afghan News that several militants attacked some security posts in the district centre on Sunday night.
He said four rebels were wounded during the clash. Some Taliban-linked policemen might have supported the militant attack, he believed.
Khashrod district’s administrative chief, Mohammad Hashim Noorzai, confirmed the firefight but did not provide details of casualties. He said a delegation had been appointed to investigate the attack.
However, the Taliban said on their website two of the attackers were militants who had infiltrated police ranks. The rebels killed nine policemen before attacking nearby posts.
