Nearly a dozen insurgents killed in Farah
FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Nearly a dozen Taliban militants have been killed and another 10 injured during clashes with security forces in Bala Buluk district of western province, officials said on Monday.
The Taliban suffered casualties during a security operation in Shiwan and Ganjabad areas of the district, Farah police chief Brig. Gen. Fazal Mohammad Samadyar told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Earlier clashes in the same district on Sunday left a Taliban-designated governor for Farah and his 15 fighters dead, he said.
However, a resident of Shiwan area, Hamza, said Taliban had captured two checkpoints in the two areas, where bodies of three policemen and five Taliban lied on the ground.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the fighters seized two security checkpoints in the district and were now attacking the district centre.
