Wolesi Jirga ratifies security deals with China, UAE
Speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi said the agreements had been discussed in meetings of the house’s committees and there had been no objection to any of the articles.
He said the agreement with China was inked with the country’s defence ministry regarding military assistance to Afghan security forces.
Without going into details, he said security pacts between Afghanistan and the UAE had a preface and 15 articles.
He said a treaty between Afghanistan and the UAE that was inked two years back for transfer of prisoners was also ready for voting.
Before ending the session, the two agreements and a treaty were ratified by the house with approval from a majority of 125 lawmakers present.
For approval, the documents would also be sent to the Meshrano Jirga or upper house.
