Will not make false promises: New Sar-i-Pul governor
SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): Taking office as the new governor of northern Sar-i-Pul province, Mohammad Zahir Wahdat on Tuesday said he would sincerely serve the people and would not make false promises with them.
Wahdat was introduced to local elders, religious scholars, youth and residents by Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG)’s deputy head Mohammad Nader Yama at a ceremony marking his inauguration as the new governor in Sar-i-Pul city, the provincial capital.
Yama said Wahdat, a former deputy governor of northern Balkh province, had vast experience in governance.
The governor said he would not offer empty promises to people and would serve them per his ability.
Mohammad Noor Rahmani, provincial council head, said the new governor should identify security as his top priority. He said the governor was also expected to make efforts at initiating development projects. Rahmani assured the new governor of local residents’ support.
