125 insurgents killed in 24 hours: official
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MOI) on Wednesday said 125 militants were killed as a result of separate operations in different parts of the country over the past 24 hours.
Another 40 militants were wounded during the 17 operations by Afghan security forces in Badakhshan, Kunduz, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Paktia, Farah, Helmand, Kapisa, Nangarhar and Takhar provinces, MoI spokesman Sediq Sediqqi told a press conference in Kabul.
He said 38 insurgents were killed and 28 others wounded during one operation alone in Shahr-i-Safa district on the outskirts of Qalat, the capital of Zabul and highway1.
Currently, Afghan security personnel have been conducting operations to defeat militants in Zabul, Ghazni, Baghlan and Uruzgan provinces, he said adding that the Afghan forces retook Chardara district from Taliban on Tuesday night and operations in remote areas of Chardara, Qala-i-Zal and Dasht-i-Archi districts were ongoing.
