1.5-km road being blacktopped in Bamyan
BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): A 1.5-kilometre road is being reconstructed and blacktopped by the municipality in central Bamyan province, an official said on Wednesday.
The road --- 14-metre wide and 10cm thick --- would be reconstructed from Mullah Ghulam intersection to end point of the planned Mullah Ghulam township at a total cost of nearly 34 million afghanis in one year, Mayor Khadim Husain Fitrat told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A local influential Hajji Naveed said traffic on the road produced dust which contaminated the air. He said nearly 7000 families living in the area would benefit from the project.
As promised by the Ministry of Public Works, several roads would be constructed this year in Bamyan, Governor Mohamamd Tahir Zaheer said.
