Taliban torch 3 checkpoints in Kapisa’s Tagab
MAHMOOD RAQI (Pajhwok): Taliban fighters set afire three abandoned security checkpoints after clashes with security forces in Tagab district of central Kapisa province, officials said.
The clashes started on Tuesday afternoon and continued as of 5pm in Korghal, Anarzoi, Shahrak and Ghanikhel areas, Afghan Local Police commander in the district, Asad Agha Safi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Four foreign Taliban fighters were wounded in Korghal area where the rebels torched three checkpoints after they were abandoned by the forces, he said, adding the conflict had displaced nearly 130 families.
He moved with his family to Kabul fearing rockets could hit his house during the clashes, a resident of Shahrak area, Abdul Samad, said.
The district administrative head, Quddos Safi, said the security was fragile and they had been coordinating with foreign troops to launch a search operation in the district.
The Taliban claimed capturing seven police posts and some weapons during the clashes.
