ARCS begins special week with call for aid to needy
The society conducts gatherings in different parts of the country each years to collect funds from the people in support of the needy through issuing tickets.
ARCS chairperson Fatima Gilani asked the people to cooperate with the organisation, whose volunteers would collect charity from traders, government officials, shopkeepers, drivers and others across the country during the week and would distribute it to the deserving Afghans.
ARCS is a member of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and other societies of the world. It has been working to provide assistance to violence and war victims over the past 80 years.
For example, she said, the society had assisted 1,500 displaced families from northern Kunduz province and helped transfer war victims from the province.
A message from President Ashraf Ghani was read out at the gathering. He asked the people to contribute to the society because helping the organisation was in fact helping war victimss.
