Taliban’ shadow district chief killed; ALP post falls
QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Local officials on Saturday said Taliban’s shadow district chief and two Afghan Local Police (ALP) members had been killed during a clash in the Maqur district of northwestern Badghis province.
The militants stormed a security check-post in the Sang Atash area of the district on Friday night and the ensuing clash continued until Saturday morning, ALP Commander Rahimdad told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He confirmed one ALP post had fallen to the militants, who killed two policemen and wounded two others during the attack. Taliban-designated district chief for Maqur Maulvi Mohammad was also killed and three militants were injured, he added.
Provincial Council Chairman Haji Bahauddin Qadsi confirmed the incident and said several families had fled to nearby villages. Civilians suffered no casualties in the clash, he added.
Meanwhile, the Taliban claimed capturing a security post during, killing two ALP personnel and capturing two others. However, they did not comment on their casualties.
