6 Daesh militants killed in Achin operation, say police
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Six Islamic State (IS), or Daesh, fighters have been killed during a security operation in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Sunday.
The self-styled group suffered the fatalities in Achin district on Saturday evening when the security personnel shelled insurgent positions there, the police spokesman said.
Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News the security personnel hit a car carrying the insurgents. Six occupants of the vehicle were killed, he said.
In the same town near the Pakistan border, he said, three militants were killed in infighting. Police detained suspected two rebels in Haska Mina and a third in Batikot district.
