Kabul gates to have scanners in a month: Massoud
KABUL (Pajhwok): Electronic scanners would be installed at four entrances to Kabul in a month’s time to prevent explosives from being entered the central capital, a senior official said on Sunday.
President’s Special Representative on Reforms and Good Governance Ahmad Zai Massoud told this a ceremony marking National Transport and Transit Day in Kabul.
He said the new scanning system would scan all types of vehicle on roads to prevent the import of explosives and fertiliser used in making explosives.
On Aug, 10, 2015, Chinese Ambassador Deng Xijun, during a meeting with National Security Advisor Hanif Atmar, had promised that the security scanners would be delivered to Kabul within a month.
Chinese engineers would help Kabul properly install the scanners and train security officers to use them, the ambassador had said.
