5 police go missing from Farah check-post
FARAH (Pajhwok): Officials on Monday said at least six policemen had gone missing from a check-post in Joyen district of western Farah province, but Taliban claimed they had joined the insurgency.
Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesperson, said the six policemen, including their commander Nimatullah, joined the insurgents on Sunday night with weapons, two motorcycles and some ammunition.
Ghulam Farooq Akbari, Joyen district chief, said the policemen abandoned their check post in Sheb locality around 3:00am. He did not confirm if they had joined the Taliban, but said it was yet not clear why they deserted their post. He said investigations were ongoing in this regard.
