3-day apple expo begins in Maidan Wardak
MAIDAN SHAHR (Pajhwok): A three-day apple exposition also showcasing other known agricultural products produced in central Maidan Wardak province was inaugurated here on Wednesday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the expo was aimed at finding market for fruits and vegetables produced in the province.
He said farmers from far-flung districts had put on display their products. In addition, products of private companies and some handicrafts were also on the display at the show.
Governor Hayatullah Hayat said they wanted to show the world that farmers were hard workers and they produced a verity of fruits and other products in Maidan Wardak.
He said the province produced more than 100,000 tonnes of apple annually and the fruit reached many parts of the country.
Rahimullah, a resident of Jalrez district, said he brought potatoes to the expo to seek market for it. He said annually he produced more than five tonnes of potatoes but there was no market for his product.
