The forces comprising public order police, army and police personnel were freed as a result of an operation that lasted three days, he said.

He said clashes were still ongoing in the locality between security forces and insurgents and so 20 Taliban fighters, including their three commanders, had perished.

Some weapons and 12 motorcycles belonging to insurgents were also seized by security forces, he added. According to Rezaee, three army soldiers were wounded in the operation.
