Ghani welcomes hajj pilgrims, visits Daud hospital

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani, who welcomed hajjinfo-icon pilgrims at the Kabul airport, on Thursday said he planned to appoint a committee to assess transparency in hajj operations.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said the President welcomed pilgrims on their arrival at the Hamid Karzai International Airport.

“I came here to congratulate you on the performance of hajj and to welcome you back home safely, I also want to hear your views and ideas for better facilities to hajj pilgrims,” Ghani told the returning pilgrims.

He said that a committee would be appointed to assess problems in hajj operations for the sake of transparency.

The president told the pilgrims that he hoped God had accepted their prayers for prosperity of Afghanistaninfo-icon and all Muslim Ummahinfo-icon.

The president then visited Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital and inquired after wounded Afghan air force personnel. The Air Force personnel who were wounded during recent operations are being treated at the hospital.

Ghani told the injured pilots and other air force members that they were the pride of Afghanistan and Afghans appreciated their performance.

“I evaluate your treatment process every day. The purpose of my visit to the hospital is to see your situation in person,” he said.
