Shehzad bats Afghanistan to series-levelling win
KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan on Thursday defeated Zimbabwe by three wickets to level the ODI series at Queens Sports Club, thanks to Shehzad Mohammadi’s 80.
Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat in the fourth international one-day match, setting Afghanistan 185 runs target for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Afghanistan Cricket Board spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News Afghan bowlers restricted Zimbabwean batsmen from making many runs in initial overs.
He said Dawlat Zadran clinched three wickets, Arshad Arman two and Amir Hamza Hotak and Mohammad Nabi shared one scalp each.
He said the Afghan opening pair played well and made the target easy to be chased. The Afghans chased the target in the 47 th over for the loss of seven wickets, with Shehzad contributing 80 valuable runs followed by skipper Asghar Stanikzai with 32.
Shehzad Mohammadi was the man of the match.
