Wahdat-i-Millat Afghanistan party leader passes away
The lawmaker died of cancer at his residence in the Qum city of neighbouring Iran. He had visited Germany and Iran several times for medical treatment.
Arif Rahmani, a legislator from southern Ghazni province, confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News the death Irfani and said the deceased was also the deputy head of Afghanistan Shia Ulema Council.
Irfan was born in 1945 in the Yakawlang district of central Bamyan province and completed his Islamic education from Najaf Madrasa in 1979.
He also obtained a bachelor degree in Islamic Education from the same seminary in 1991 and served as deputy head of the Wahdat-i-Millat during jihad against the Soviet occupation troops.
