Afghanistan pull off landmark win against Zimbabwe
Afghanistan Cricket Board spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat in the 20 overs game.
Zimbabwe made quick 80 runs in the first 10 overs, but later Afghan bowlers restricted them to a total of 153 runs.
For Afghanistan, Dawlat Zadran clinched three wickets, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi one each.
Hotak said Afghanistan chased the target in the last over with six wickets in hand. He said Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi played well with the bat, contributing valuable 37 and 33 rubs respectively.
Similarly, Mohammad Shehzad contributed 34 runs, Osman Ghani 13 and Karim Sadiq 17. Dawlat Zadran was the man of the match.
It was Afghanistan’s first victory in the T20 format against a full ICC member. Afghanistan earlier won ODI series against Zimbabwe, making history.
