15 including 4 policemen dead in security incidents
JALALABAD/GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Eleven Taliban and four policemen have been killed in separate security incidents in eastern Nangarhar and southeastern Paktia provinces, officials said on Wednesday.
A NATO drone struck a vehicle of fighters, killing Taliban’s group leader Hamza and four others in the Secho area of Khanikhel district of Nangarhar province, the police spokesman said.
Col. Hazrat Husain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News three Daesh militants, including two Pakistanis, were arrested during an operation in the Achin district of the province.
However, the district’s administrative chief, Hajji Ghalib Mujahid, said six Islamic State fighters were killed during the operation in the Abdulkhel area of Achin.
In the Syed Karam district of southeastern Paktia province, four policemen were killed and a fifth wounded when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb, police chief, Maj. Gen. Zalmai Oryakhel said.
The policemen, security guards at the Machalgho dam, were on the way to their duty station when the incident occurred. Four bodies and an injured policeman had been brought to hospital, an official said on condition of anonymity.
