KABUL (Pajhwok): Canadian Ambassador in Kabul Deborah Lyons has said the newly-elected government in her country recognises Afghanistan as one of its top priorities.
The envoy expressed these views at a meeting with National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar in Kabul, a statement from the National Security Council (NSC) said on Wednesday.
At the meeting, she hailed the Afghan government’s anti-corruption efforts and informed the NSC advisor about her country’s contribution towards the development of Afghanistan’s economic, military and other key sectors.
Atmar congratulated the Canadian envoy over the recent elections and the establishment of a new elected government in Canada. He thanked the government and the people of Canada for their continued support for Afghanistan in different spheres of life.
Atmar said Afghanistan was committed to honouring all promises it had made with the international community.
The National Procurement Commission (NPC) has saved billions afghanis in multiple contracts, he said, adding that an evolution process of the security organs would be started soon to ensure more transparency and avoid corruption.
