9 wounded, two critically, in Balkh bomb attack
MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): At least nine people were wounded in a bomb blast in Mazar-I-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, on Thursday, an official said.
Provincial police chief, Col. Abdur Razzaq Qadiri, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place around 2pm. One civilian was killed when the magnetic bomb exploded in Roza area.
But Shafiq, a doctor at the civil hospital, confirmed receiving nine injured people from the site of the explosion near the Kifayat Market.
He said three of the wounded were discharged after being treated while the rest, including two in critical condition, were still under medical care.
Eyewitness Abdul Saboor said the blast took place in Tor Bazaar area in a mobile market. The device was placed inside a sock.
He added the small bomb was thrown by an unknown person into the crowd. A number of people were wounded, Saboor said.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
