Logar authorities start demolishing illegal houses
PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The authorities on Tuesday started demolishing dozens of houses illegally constructed on government land in central Logar province.
The houses were identified as illegal by a joint delegation of the governor’s office, the National Directorate of Security (NDS), the police headquarters, the attorney office, the property department and the sector department, the governor’s spokesman said.
Saleem Saleh told Pajhwok Afghan News some powerful men had grabbed hundreds of acres of government land in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, and sold them to other people, but the delegation had started destroying the structures.
Provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Daud Ahmadi said police had so far destroyed nearly 100 houses and surrounding walls which had been illegally constructed in the city.
