PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): As many as 3.9 million Afghan refugees have been voluntarily repatriated to their country from Pakistan over the last 13 years.
About 55,604 individual registered Afghan refugees were repatriated until mid-October this year, the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions said on Wednesday.
Currently, 1.53 million registered and an estimated one million un-documented Afghans are living in Pakistan, according to a statement from the ministry.
The repatriation process is being implemented under a tripartite agreement signed among Pakistan, Afghanistan and UNHCR. The accord expires on December 31, 2015.
