Inzamam signs one-year contract with ACB
KABUL (Pajhwok): Legendary cricketer Inzamamul Haq has agreed to carry on working with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) as coach for one year, confirmed Afghan cricket officials on Saturday.
Inzamam joined Afghanistan team before tour to Zimbabwe. Earlier, the former captain said he accepted the offer only for Zimbabwe series where Afghanistan team played play five ODIs and two T20s.
Inzamam agreed to sign a proper one-year extendable coaching contract with the Afghanistan Cricket Board on Saturday.
"Inzamam signed one year extendable contact today, and he will be head coach of the Afghanistan National Cricket Team. His presence with the national team will polish skills of the national cricket team," said Nasimullah Danish, Chairman Afghanistan Cricket Board.
Afghanistan had always-aggressive bowling now there is need to improve the batting and Inzamam presence with the national team will improve the quality of the batting.
"As head coach we were very satisfied with what we observed in T20 and ODI series with Zimbabwe and he judges that the Afghanistan national team has good cricketing talent and can move ahead," ACB CEO Shafiqullah Stanikzai said.

Inzamam is widely regarded as one of the greatest Pakistani batsmen ever, the leading run scorer for Pakistan in One-Day Cricket and third-highest run scorer for Pakistan in Test cricket, after Javed Miandad.
