Ex-Jihadi commander killed in Paghman

Nov 09, 2015 - 12:39

KABUL (Pajhwok): A former Jihadi commander, Atiqullah, has been shot dead by Taliban militants in the Paghman district of capital Kabul, an official said Monday.

Paghman Police Chief Col. Amrullah told Pajhwok Afghan News that Atiqullah was gunned down when he was on his way home from farmland on Sunday evening.

The attackers managed to flee but the incident was under investigation, he said.

Meanwhile, Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the person they killed, was a government commander.

Ahmad Emal Arghandiwal, a resident of the Arghandi area said few days ago unknown people had warned Atiqullah through a letter.

Over the past one month, five people have been killed in similar incidents in the area, he added. The claim was rejected by the district chief.
