Special Forces gun down 2 more civilians during Khost raid

Nov 11, 2015 - 14:46

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Afghan Special Forces have killed two more civilians during a nighttime raid in southeastern Khost province, an official claimed on Wednesday.

Deputy Governor Abdul Wahid Patan told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Darwazgi area of Ali Sher district, where unknown gunmen opened fire on the Special Forces.

Two residents were killed in retaliatory fire from the forces, who were conducting a raid in the neighbourhood, the official said, without going into details of the incident.

But a resident of the area, Javedullah, said a man and his son were killed during the operation. “The man guarding his house asked the Special Forces to stop when they came close.

“When they did not stop, the resident fired into the air before he was shot dead by the forces,” Javedullah added. The man’s son was also killed when he opened the door to his house.

Mohammad Rassoul, another inhabitant of the locality, said the Special Forces were searching a house when a man from another house mistakenly fired at them.

Four days ago, the Special Forces killed two civilians and arrested two others during a similar operation in Daeri area. Governor Hukam Khan Habib had condemned the killing of civilians and said that he would discuss the issue with security organs.
