Rahmon briefed on CASA-1000, road connectivity projects
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and visiting President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon were given a briefing on several road projects in Murree near Islamabad.
National Highway Authority (NHA) Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar briefed the Tajik delegation on different options of connectivity between the two nations, Radio Pakistan reported.
Sharif and Rahmon agreed in principle the Gwadar-Peshawar-Kabul-Kunduz-Dushanbe route, Khunjerab-Kalasu-Murghab road and Chitral-Ishkashim-Dushanbe route.
The prime minister hoped regional connectivity and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project (CPEC) projects would transform the economic outlook of the region.
CASA-1000, a project of regional energy cooperation among Tajikistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan, was also discussed. Sharif stressed the early execution of the scheme, which would enable Pakistan to import 1,000MW of electricity to meet its energy requirements.
