Sweden promises continued development assistance
KABUL (Pajhwok): Minister of Finance Eklil Hakimi on Wednesday met a visiting Swedish delegation led by Minister for International Development Cooperation Isbellah on government's reform agenda and development assistance from Stockholm.
In the meeting that took place at the Presidential Palace, the ministers discussed Sweden’s development assistance to Afghanistan, as well as a broad range of economic and development issues, banking reforms, private sector development and the role of women in government institutions .
Hakimi provided an update on the National Unity Government’s reform progress and its plans for the coming years. He said that the government was working on a development strategy.
The strategy will to be ready for a development conference planned to be hosted by the European Union in Brussels in the later part of 2016. The Ghani administration is also working to enhance economic cooperation in the region including through mega projects of TAPI and CASA-1000.
Minister Lovin expressed Sweden’s continued commitment to peace and economic development in Afghanistan.
