President Ghani lands in Kazakh capital Astana
KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani, at the head of a high-level delegation, arrived in the Kazakh capital, Astana, on Thursday night on two-day state visit, the Presidential Palace said on Friday.
According to a statement from the Presidential Palace, President Ghani, who has been invited by his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev, arrived in Astana at 9pm Thursday night.
The statement said the Afghan leader during his trip would meet Nazarbayev, the Kazakh prime minister and other senior officials. He would also be meeting some Afghan and Kazakh traders and investors. Ghani would also meet Afghan students and would deliver a speech at Nazarbayev University.
The two countries are expected to sign three agreements on a joint anti-corruption campaign, good governance, diplomacy and purchase of wheat.
The president is accompanied by his Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Asadullah Zamir, Information and Culture Minister Abdul Bari Jehani, spymaster Rahmatullah Nabil, his advisor on financial affairs Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal and other senior officials.
