Botched car bombing fails to hit target in Asadabad
ASADABAD (Pajhwok): An explosives-laden car went off on the outskirts of Asadabad, the capital of eastern Kunar province, before reaching the target, an official said on Saturday.
The car, parked on the bank of Peach Dara River in Asadabad, exploded last evening, Kunar police chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Syedkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the car had been parked 200 meters from the headquarters of the first municipality district. However, the explosion did not cause causalities, he added.
According to him, the insurgents planned to hit military and civilian facilities in the area with the explosives-packed car, but the plot failed.
Mohammad Anwar, a resident of provincial capital, said they heard the heavy blast on Friday evening, but it was revealed later that the car had exploded.
