NPC approves 12 contracts worth 1 billion afghanis

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The National Procurement Commission (NPC) on Sunday approved a dozen contracts worth above one billion afghanis, a statement from the Presidential Palace’s media office said.

The NPC met on Saturday evening under the chairmanship of President Ashraf Ghani, the statement said, adding the contracts approved belonged to Da Afghanistaninfo-icon (central) Bank, the Office of Administrative Affairs, the power utility, the Microfinance Investment Support Facility for Afghanistan (MISFA) and the ministries of energy and water, educationinfo-icon, defence and interior.

The meeting also approved a proposal calling for changes to six projects and their extension. It approved two contracts belonging to the Ministry of Defence and deferred the extension of a contract of the Education Ministry for further review till the next meeting.

The statement claimed 99 million aghanis were saved compared to the previous years in the contracts approved for the interior and defence ministries.

Second Vice-President Mohammad Sarwar Danish, Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah, finace, justice and economy ministers and members of the National Procurement Committee attended the meeting.
