Quake jolts parts of Afghanistan; no casualties reported
Measuring 5.9 on the open-ended Richter scale, the quake, whichstruck at around 10:45pm, was felt in the capital Kabul and some eastern provinces of the country.
Izzatullah, a resident of Kabul, said they jolted out of sleep by the quake.He all his neighbours came out of their houses in panic.
Zabihullah, belonging to Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, said the temblor forced people from homes for a few seconds.
On October 26, a strong earthquake jerked parts of Afghanistan that left 115 people dead and 500 more injured.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the epicentre was in the Hindu Kush mountain ranges moderate depth of 92.4 kilometres.
In Pakistan, Chitral, Swat, Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Kashmir and adjoining areas were shaken. There were no reports of damage immediately.
