Taliban accused of killing 3 members of a family

Nov 23, 2015 - 18:54

QALOQAN (Pajhwok): Talibaninfo-icon gunmen killed three members of a family including a woman in Yangi Qala district of northeastern Takhar province, officials claimed on Monday.

The massacre took place in Old City area of the district on Sunday night, the governor’s spokesman, Sunatullah Taimor, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

“Taliban entered the house of Syed Maqsud and killed him, his wife and a 15-year-old son on the charge that they spied for the government,” he said.

The official said security forces had launched their investigation into the case and an investigation team had been sent to the area.

But the district executive officer, Naseerullah, said the area where the incident took place was under Taliban control over the past two months. “We can’t send any team to the area which is with Taliban.”

A resident of the area said on condition of anonymity that Taliban militants also attended funeral prayers for the slain persons. He said the insurgents tol people participating in the burial ceremony that they had not killed them.

A Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the family members were killed by robbers who looted 60,000 afghanis from the home. According to their investigation, Mujahid said the robbers were Afghan local policemen.
