8 children killed by leftover ordnance in Kabul
KABUL (Pajhwok): Eight children were killed on Tuesday when an unexploded ordnance went off in the central capital Kabul where a separate bomb blast injured four civilians, an official said.
Ministry of Interior spokesman Sediq Seddiqi said the first blast that killed eight children took place in the limits of the 13 th police district in Seh Bangi area of Kabul at about 3pm.
He said the explosion was caused by an unexploded munition and the slain children were aged between nine and 14 years.
A resident of the area, Daud, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast took place in an open area where children were playing. He said the children were playing with the ordnance when it went off.
The Ministry of Interior said another bomb blast took place in the afternoon in the jurisdiction of the fifth police district, injuring four civilians.
