11 insurgents eliminated, as many detained in Helmand
LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Eleven Taliban insurgents, including a commander, have been killed and ad as many others detained in the southern province of Helmand, officials said on Thursday.
Nine Taliban were killed and four others, including a commander, detained on Wednesday evening during an operation in the Gurdara area of Sangin district.
Deputy spokesman for the 215 Maiwand Military Corps Ahamd ShakibTasal told Pajhwok Afghan Newstwo other fighters were killed and their vehicle destroyed in the Malgir area of the district.
Two hand grenades and 47 rocket shells were seized and an arms depot belonging to the insurgents destroyed during a separate operation in the same district, he said.
Meanwhile, seven rebels were detained and a rocket launcher, a Kalashnikovand an ammunition depot captured by security personnel in the Nahr-i-Siraj area of Greshk district, he said.
