3 civilians injured in Nangarhar blast; 2 rebels killed in clash
JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Three people were injured on on Thursday when a roadside bomb exploded near guards of former provincial council chairman in the eastern province of Nangarhar, officials said.
The explosion, apparently targeting the guards of Haji Jamal, took place at 10am in the third municipality district of Jalalabad, the provincial capital, the deputy police chief said.
Col. Ghulam Rabbani told Pajhwok Afghan News three civilians were injured in the blast. However, the guards of Jamal escaped unhurt, he said.
The heavy explosion was heard across the city, said a resident of the area, Hikmat. He had no details about the explosion, for which there was no immediate claimof responsibility.
Separately, two militants were killed and five others wounded as a result of a clash with security personnel in the Surkhrod district of the province, said the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani.
