Nov 27, 2015 - 14:17

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Five Afghan refugees, who were killed in the Syrian conflict, have been buried in neighbouring Iran, a media report said on Friday.

The Afghans, aged between 19 to 21years, were allegedly part of a group of refugees and Iran had sent to Syria, in support of President Bashar al-Assad.

Radio Farda reported the men had been laid to rest in Tehran and Damavand. In August, 3,500 Afghans were said to be fighting alongside Assad’s forces.

Besides receiving $700 in monthly salary, the Afghan fighters have also been offered Iranian residency permit. They are fighting both for Assad and the Islamic State.
