Unity govt plans major reshuffle: source
KABUL (Pajhwok): The government is planning to undertake a major reshuffle in the ministries and departments, an official said on Thursday.
A source close to the unity government told Pajhwok Afghan News the changes would take place in the ministries and other central departments, but gave no further details.
Meanwhile, there were rumours on Thursday that Independent Directorate of Local Governance chief Jilani Popal might resign due to his differences with the government leadership.
But IDLG spokesman Munir Yousafzada told Pajhwok Afghan News the speculations were baseless and Popal had no plan to resign.
But a source told Pajhwok Afghan News Popal had made up his mind to tender resignation, but reversed his decision after intervention of some high ranking officials.
The government is planning the high level reshuffle after coming under widespread criticism over increasing insecurity and economic problems.
Wolesi Jirga members on Thursday summoned the Hajj and Auqaf Minister over alleged embezzlement of more than $3 million in the hajj operations by presidential advisor and the hajj commission chief, Daud Sultanzoy.
