NPC approves another 19 contracts worth 2.7b afs
KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Procurement Commission (NPC) has approved another 19 contracts worth 2.7 billion afghanis, the Presidential Palace said on Sunday.
The NPC during a meeting discussed a total 25 different project contracts mostly belonging to the defence and interior ministries, a statement from the Palace said.
The meeting approved 19 contracts and saved 87 million afs in the interior ministry contracts compared to last year’s deals, it added.
Chaired by President Ashraf Ghani, the meeting was attended by 2nd Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danish, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah, finance, justice, commerce ministers and other senior officials, the statement said.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs officials and Aryana Airlines representatives presented detailed reports of the hajj operations and expenses on pilgrims.
The statement said President Ghani called the hajj process as successful and instructed the officials concerned to ensure more services were delivered to pilgrims in future.
Sarwar Danish asked the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs to prepare a complete financial report regarding the hajj process and asked the national carrier to provide its five-year investment plan for transparency and quality improvement of the company.
Ghani said both the company and the ministry should submit their expenditure reports to CEO Dr. Abdullah in a separate meeting.
The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation also presented proposed plans for the construction Khost airport, with President Ghani promising necessary measures regarding the project. He also instructed the aviation ministry to present its assessment report to the commission concerned.
During the meeting, the education minister presented his report about the construction 110 schools that had been halted over the past few years.
After discussing the report, the president instructed the Ministry of Finance and Education to prepare a draft of estimated budget, designs and the level of work already done, categorise the schools and share it with the Ministry of Urban Development, Rural Rehabilitation Public Works and the World Bank.
