Picture of Mullah Dadullah's dead body found by Pajhwok
KABUL (Pajhwok): Pajhwok Afghan News has obtained a picture of the dead body of Mullah Mansoor Dadullah, a top leader of a breakaway Taliban faction which had been involved in fighting with the rivals in southern Zabul province.
A reliable source confided to Pajhwok Afghan News that Mullah Dadullah had been killed and his dead body recovered from the house of Mullah Abdullah Haqmal.
The source said Dadullah’s corpse had been kept hidden for several days before Taliban militants found his remains inside Haqmal’s house.
Dadullah, brother of a notorious Taliban commander killed in 2007, was among a group of dissidents who opposed the accession of Mullah Akhtar Mansour when he assumed leadership of the movement this year.
The source said Dadullah had been shot multiple times in the head, but his face was unaffected.
He said Taliban militants were reluctant to speak about Dadullah’s murder because they did not consider it an achievement.
In order to avoid internal differences, the source said, the Taliban were trying to give the impression that Dadullah had been with Uzbek fighters who killed him.
Local officials in Zabul province had said Dadullah was killed during infighting between rival factions.
But the breakaway faction led by Mullah Rassoul later denied Dadullah, his deputy, had been killed.
A large number of Uzbek fighters earlier this year arrived in Arghandab and Khak-i-Afghan districts of Zabul. Dadullah also arrived in the area and announced his opposition to Mullah Mansour.
